Kristen Cosby is a freelance writer, editor, and educator. Her writing has received generous support from the Jan Michalski Foundation, the Corporation of Yaddo, the MacDowell Artist Colony, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and garnered the Normal Prize in Nonfiction and a Pushcart Prize Special Mention. Her work has appeared in The Normal School, The Normal School Online, Kenyon Review Online, Alaska Quarterly Review, Fourth Genre, Creative Nonfiction, Pitt Med Magazine, Proto, and has been anthologized in The Pleasure Principle and The Moment.
For much of her childhood, Kristen drifted off the coasts of Maine and New Hampshire aboard a 39-foot sailboat with her parents, brother, and dog. She has also lived as an ex-pat in Budapest, Hungary and a hermit in Maine. A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, and the MFA program at the University of Pittsburgh, she now lives and teaches in San Francisco.
